Sydney’s Spectacular New Year Fireworks Display
Happy New Year to everyone from Sydney, Australia!
It’s 2009 here already. As usual, the start of the new year was celebrated with a spectacular fireworks display on Sydney Harbour, brightening the night sky and illuminating such landmarks as Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. You can see a video of the fireworks here.
Unfortunately, we did not see the fireworks “live” this year. With two young children, it would have been just too difficult to battle through the crowds or to camp all day at the best vantage points. Last year, when we lived nearer to the city centre, we saw the fireworks from the roof of our apartment building, and they were beautiful. It’s such an inspiring start to a new year.
Talking of inspiration, my motto for 2009 is a quote that appears on the front of a notebook I bought recently:
“Do the things you like, and success will come naturally. Whatever you dream of, you can make it come true. If you have faith in yourself, no mountain is too high to climb.”
Best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and successful 2009!
