Celebrating Australia Day!
In celebration of Australia Day, here is a video showing the beauty and diversity of Australia and its people.
From backyard barbeques to city centre fireworks displays, Australia Day is celebrated in many different ways on January 26th each year. The cultural diversity of Australia is celebrated, as many races and nationalities come together to commemorate the formation of the country in which they all live.
In the centre of Sydney, the Australia Day celebrations always begin with an Aboriginal ceremony - Woggan-ma-gule - honouring the past and looking towards the future.
Throughout the day, crowds of people enjoy the entertainment and food on offer at Hyde Park in Sydney’s centre, and many events take place on Sydney Harbour, celebrating the city’s on-going relationship with the water.
At Darling Harbour, there is a whole programme of entertainment, culminating in an evening fireworks display. More information on how Australia Day is celebrated in Sydney and New South Wales can be found here.

Happy Belated Australia Day!!!
I’m off to read more about your opal mining…that picture makes the opal look really different (blue) to what I’m use to seeing.

Hi Mabela
Thanks! Yes, opals are often a milky white colour - perhaps there are different types. Hope you managed to find out about them - I would like to find out too - and write about it!
