Autumn Cleaning!
Just a quick post today as I’m in the middle of thoroughly cleaning and tidying our house, ready for an inspection by the letting agency tomorrow.
If you rent a property through an agency in Australia, be prepared for regular inspections, usually once every three months. I guess the aims of the inspection are to ensure that everything is in good working order and to see if any repairs are required.
My daughter is at vacation care today, having fun with clay modelling and painting, and my son has just had a long nap, so I was able to get quite a lot of cleaning and tidying done. But, there’s still more to do! That’s the trouble with housework - it seems to be never-ending!
I’m also surprised at just how quickly clutter tends to accumulate in various places, such as the hallway, the kitchen benchtop and under my daughter’s bed! I wish I was better at keeping the clutter under control on a weekly basis, because it is so much nicer to see clutter-free surfaces!
We tidied up the garden at the weekend, so that part is done, thankfully.
Anyway, back to work! I’m looking forward to the reward of a nice clean and tidy house. I just hope it doesn’t get messed up again too quickly!
This looks like a stylish way to store those items that need dry cleaning. Much nicer than the plastic bags I use!

i was at first surprised when i read fall cleaning, it took me a while to realize in australia is fall right now, and when summer comes here will be your winter

Hi Martin - We also have spring cleaning here, but spring arrives in September/October in Australia. It is now autumn in April, so we have autumn cleaning at the moment! And, yes, it is confusing - I still haven’t got used to the different seasons down under!
Hi Sher - It is strange - I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to having the seasons at different times of the year!! Good luck with the spring cleaning - it is nice to have a clean house. Let’s see how long it lasts!
