Sydney’s Child - A Free Parenting Magazine

Sydney’s Child Magazine, April 2009

On Saturday, I picked up the April issue of ‘Sydney’s Child’ magazine. I look forward to reading it every month because, unlike other free magazines, it is a very interesting read.

In every issue, there are around ten well-written articles that can be informative, thought-provoking, inspirational, funny, sad, or even annoying or infuriating. The letters page always has an assortment of reactions from readers and I think that is the strength of the magazine - it provokes a high level of interesting debate amongst parents.

Another reason I like ‘Sydney’s Child’ magazine is that it has a very comprehensive listing of events and activities of interest to children taking place throughout Sydney in the month ahead. On many occasions, I have looked in ‘Sydney’s Child’ and found an idea for a place to go or an activity to pursue to amuse bored children. And, not all of the activities mentioned are expensive, some are free and others are low-cost.

Of course, the magazine also contains advertising, but I find that the advertisements do not overwhelm the magazine. There is a good balance between articles, events calendars, and advertisements. The advertisements are also often of interest to me as a mother.

Whether you live in Sydney or are only visiting for a short time, I would recommend that you pick up a free copy of ‘Sydney’s Child.’ It is available in shopping centres, libraries, toy shops, children’s clothing shops and in many other places freqented by parents and children.

There are other versions of this magazine published in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth. You can find out more on the Web Child website.
